Rite of Election

Tonight I had the pleasure of visiting the Cathedral Basilica of the Immaculate Conception downtown. It serves as the "Mother" church of the Catholic family of Northern Colorado, and is absolutely gorgeous, my pictures do not do justice! (I did not take the top picture, that was taken from a website but I wanted to show a full shot of the Sanctuary.) I got to meet Denver's Archbishop, Most Reverend Charles Chaput as part of our Rite of Election. Basically, the Rite of Election is a graduation for those that are converting to Catholicism as they go from Catechumens to 'Elect', and for those that are already baptised it is a reflection of its importance. The church was full and they called every person by name to come up and meet the Archbishop so it was quite the process. But it was worth it, it was a very nice ceremony! My other exciting news for the week is that I had some of my eyelids ripped off from a horrible waxing experience. It may be a while before I try that one again.

Visit to Fort Collins

Jeff and I spent Saturday hanging out with our friend Brooke up in Fort Collins. It was strange visiting our old city again since it has been almost a year since we've moved down to Highlands Ranch. You forget how different suburbia is than a college town. Mainly, I miss people watching all the completely bazaar locals. For example, the man that rides around town on his 5ft tall unicycle, or that kid that dances on the street corner and holds advertisement signs and was featured on 9 news, or need I say the famous Balloon Boy... Highlands Ranch has nothing as exciting as that!
The main reason we went back to visit (besides seeing our friend of course,) was to check out the local breweries. One of my favorite things about Fort Collins are all the fantastic microbreweries that line the town. Here is a flight of beer from Odell's.

After tasting some yummy beers- and some not so yummy, we had to stop at one of the local Mexican restaurants. All in all it was a great trip. Except when we got home and had horrible stomach aches from what I think had to have been from a beer named "Cha Cha Cha" a chili beer. The name sounded so fun, we had to try it. Next time I won't be so easily fooled. Beer and chili do not mix. On a side note, if the jacket that I am wearing in the bottom picture belongs to anyone, let me know! It somehow ended up at my house sometime after the wedding.. And until someone claims it I will continue to wear it :)

Goodbyes and blue!

This weekend was the last time we were able to hang out with the Overman's... Russ, Kara and Tyler that is. They are now officially living 1500 miles away (give or take a few hundred.) I tried to take a cute picture of Tyler but I just have not mastered the art of children's photography.. Kara, I promise Tyler was having tons of fun with grandma and the clean laundry until I walked up with the camera! We will miss them greatly but 2 years will be here before we know it! And until then, we always have our webcam!
In other news, I changed up my bedroom a little and love the way it turned out!
I wanted to add blue to the room, and am so glad it did not involve any more painting.
Isn't it cozy? Tomorrow is Fat Tuesday and I am looking forward to our kings cake at work, jewlry party afterward, and dinner with Jeff. Our last big dinner before I give up sweets, cheese, and fast food for Lent...it's going to be a long 40 days!

Flowers at work!

Today I got a great suprise at work, Valentines flowers from Jeff! I've never gotten flowers sent to me at work, so it was a nice treat and break from my dull work day. This will be my first Valentines day as a married woman. Jeff will be gone but I've already got lunch and movie plans with my best gal pal set up. Sometimes it's tough only being able to see Jeff less than half the year but then I remember how hard he works and how proud I am of him! And I also know that it won't be like this forever, and that someday (hopefully soon!) he will have a normal job and I can see him every night! Anyway, this has been the highlight of my week so far. No other news to share!

Fun with Maxadoodle

We found Max a little stuffed horse at the airport named Mort. Max was so excited when we gave him Mort, his little legs wouldn't stop kicking!Max loved to play the lips game where he'd use his fingers to make silly noises on his lips and his Aunt Emily's lips too. He just thought it was the silliest thing ever!At first Max didn't know what to think of the big smelly dog, but it didn't take long before Max was sharing his toys with Fiona.Max loved spending time with his Uncle Jeff, he thought he was pretty cool!He also thought his new friend Tyler was lots of fun too, they had a blast playing with their new toys together!Max liked to read magazines with his Mommy like a big boy.But then he discovered that it was much more fun to tear the magazines apart instead!Cheers! Woah, we've got a party animal on our hands here...
