Well visit

 I often put pictures of Johanna's happy face on her blog because those are the faces I like to remember and she is just such a cheerful little thing. But she can be a very serious baby too! Here are some shots of her concentrating very hard on her new block set we got at a consignment sale a few weeks ago.

This morning I was able to sleep in until 9:30 a.m. because Jeff was home to watch Johanna! This was great for 2 reason; Jeff had been gone for almost 3 weeks so it was great having him get some play time in and secondly I had been up from 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. watching the royal wedding... I know, how lame am I? I hadn't planned on watching it but I woke up randomly at 2 and couldn't fall asleep. Once I started watching I couldn't just not watch up until the end so I found myself glued to the television. And just a little fun fact to further prove my nerdiness...I cried several times throughout the ceremony. The little choir boys choked me up and the vows of course! The Bride didn't even cry! I obviously have neither the poise or composure to be a princess...good thing I married a commoner ;)

 Anyway the point in me telling you that was after I slept in we were able to go for a nice long walk to our favorite muffin shop, remember from back in my pregnant lady days? When we got there we discovered there was a new self serve yogurt place in the shopping complex so we decided to try that out instead. Frozen yogurt is practically regular yogurt which is an acceptable breakfast food. It was amazing I loved it! You got to chose your own flavors of frozen yogurt then put whatever toppings you wanted on top, delicious! And the best/worst thing is it's just walking distance from our house.

Johanna also had her 6 month appointment. I swore I would keep proper documentation of all her stats but this appointment I failed to write anything down or get a print out. I know she weighed 16 lbs 10 oz and her head is growing and her body is growing I just don't remember by how much. Sorry Johanna... I can tell you it was all within normal range and you were within the 55-60%. The Doctor also gave us a prescription for her dry skin as needed. She only had 2 shots this time and cried for about a minute and calmed down as soon as I fed her. We won't be going back to the Doctor until she is a year old, I can't believe it!

6 months old

I can't believe my little baby girl is 6 months old today. It seems like just yesterday Jeff and I found out we were expecting. It's funny because the 9 months waiting for her to get here seemed to crawl and now that she's here it's zooming by. I know everyone says that but it really is true. Johanna is growing up so quickly! She has been working on moving her legs a lot and I know she will be crawling soon. I am trying to enjoy these last few weeks/months of  plopping her on the ground knowing she will still be there a few minutes later!

She is grabbing things left and right, big things and small things. She loves my cell phone of course and talking to Daddy on the phone. This is one of her favorite toys- a frog that ribbits when she bangs it against the floor. I don't remember who gave this to her but thanks!

She has figured out how to turn the pages in her books although she only does this to try to get the pages into her mouth.

 One of Johanna's latest and most popular tricks is crying on demand. If she feels like no one is paying attention to her or if she decides she wants something she will let you know with her loud cry.

But as soon as you pick her up or give her attention she is all smiles. I'm on to you missy!

 We got a package from Jeff yesterday for Easter. Johanna didn't know what to think of the big box that had her name on it.

Alright! A giant bunny rabbit...I'm sure I can chew on him later!

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone! We went over to Brian and Lori's for a delicious Easter lunch and dinner. Jeff is still away in Montana so it was nice being able to spend time with family.

My grandma (Johanna's Oma) made this beautiful sweater and hat. I just love all the little details, especially the little rose buds along the edge and the poof ball tassels.

Johanna's dress is from her Auntie Cheryl, isn't it precious? It matches the Easter flowers perfectly!

And here she is falling over! She is still working on that skill :) Her dress was so slippery she couldn't stay up for very long!

Here was her favorite part of her Easter basket, this glowing egg. She loved putting it in her mouth.

We had a lovely time and a great meal; steak, spinach and ricotta ravioli, sweet potato fries and artichoke. Yum yum! Even though the weather was cold and rainy we were nice and warm inside. Next year Johanna will be old enough for Easter egg hunts now that will be fun!

Lookout Mountain

 Behind me is Buffalo Bill's grave. Buffalo Bill's real name was William Cody. I couldn't tell you why he earned the nickname Buffalo Bill or why he was buried on top of Lookout Mountain because I did not go into the museum...oops. There's always next time... :)

 Don't you love this little outfit that her Auntie Melissa got her? We love it and it is so true she does love her Auntie :)

 Here is a snapshot of Johanna's second time in her highchair.

 This was actually her first time but I forgot to take a picture until after she had eaten (with out a bib!) So far she is loving her food. She has tried bananas, squash, sweet potato, avocado and apple.

 She has also become a full time tummy sleeper. She will lie on her back to fall asleep but if she is even remotely still awake when I put her down she immediately rolls to her tummy. You can also see a little bit of her favorite sleep-time friend, Lamb Head. She likes to fall asleep with Lamb Head in her arms, on her tummy, on her face or just on top of her. I think I need to get another one for backup before she wears this one out!

 This is what happens when you take a picture of a sleeping baby... Don't worry she had been napping for over two hours and we had places to be!

 Look at these adorable little onesies my Mom made for Johanna. Aren't they adorable and perfect for Easter!

Here she is wearing my favorite. Babycakes was a close runner-up mostly because I love the name 'babycakes' and hadn't thought of it until I saw it on the onesie. Possibly a new nickname for Johanna and/or Jeff?

Denver Aquarium

One place I have been meaning to go to since moving to Colorado is our Aquarium. After Kara's previous post and her mentioning we had a tiger at ours I really wanted to go. We figured it would be a great place to take my friends Lindsey and Drew.

It was a rainy gloomy day on Wednesday so we figured it would be a great opportunity to get everyone out of the house but still be someplace nice and warm.

 I am not a big fan of snorkeling. It took me about 3 snorkeling experiences to realize this. Something about swimming through schools of fish the size of the picture above really freaks me out. The way their slimy little bodies rub up against your legs...ughh grosses me out.

But I love looking at them through glass!

 My favorite section, salt water fish. I love the beautiful and bright colors!

 Thanks to Disney's Finding Nemo, most tropical fish to me are all characters from the movie. Meet Peach, the starfish.

Truthfully, this isn't really the Nemo fish. But I couldn't get a picture of Nemo so this fish looks pretty darn close if you ask me.

 While at the zoo we saw a Momma and baby orangutan. At the aquarium they had a display of a fake Momma and baby so here I am attempting to fit in with my baby. Don't you love my orangutan facial expression?

 Bad Squishy! (Finding Nemo)

We weren't able to see the tiger because there was some type of zoologist convention and they were hogging them to themselves, those greedy zoologists. However, there was an exhibit at the end where we were able to pet the stingrays.
