Breckenridge

This weekend Jeff, Johanna and I got to go on our first mini family vacation to Breckenridge, Colorado. My family from Texas loves skiing so every year they like to make a trip somewhere to hit the slopes. They rented out a condo right along the mountain and invited us to stay. My cousin Lauren has a beautiful 9 month old baby girl named Avery. It was so nice to be able to meet her!While everyone was out skiing my Aunt Martha and I stayed behind to watch the little ones. Everyone tried to get me to ski, but I wanted to make sure I was all in one piece for my trip to Ohio. Jeff also wanted Johanna to come out and ski with him. Turns out she can start lessons when she is 3 years old! (We will see about that...)Johanna loved all the attention from her cousins!Avery was so interested in the baby. She was crawling all over trying to get to her to touch her. It was so sweet to see them interact with one another!The condo that we stayed at was amazing. You would walk out from the garage and a few feet away was the path to the ski lift! Here are the men all ready to go.And they're off! Jeff was like a kid in the candy store, he hadn't been skiing all winter. He made sure to show them all his favorite runs.Here we are nice and toasty inside.We had to bundle Johanna up and get her out in the snow for a little bit. Remember her giant marshmallow suit? We had such a blast visiting my family, it was so nice of them for having us up there to spend the weekend!

Valentines Day

Gramma Lori got Johanna some leggings for Christmas. I thought they were perfect for today!Fiona had to come check and see what all the fuss was.They are going to be such great pals!Who doesn't love a picture of baby feet?Since it was Valentine's Day, Jeff agreed to trying to take a family photo with our tripod and remote.It was impossible to take a good photo with Johanna looking up, she just didn't know what was going on.She was much more interested in what Fiona was doing in front of her.Maybe kisses from Mom and Dad will wake her out of her trance...There! We got a face!

Keeping with tradition, Johanna had to pay a visit to a Doctor on a holiday. This time it was a scheduled appointment :) We met with a pediatric urologist. Before she was able to meet with him, we needed to have a renal ultrasound done. After we finished that (it was very quick and easy) we headed up to meet with the specialist. After he reviewed the video he met with us. Turns out he graded her reflux as a I... woo hoo! So we are now the lowest grade on a five scale ranking. We are on our way to it no longer being there at all. She will still be on a very low dose of antibiotic (primsol) for the following year. I told the Doctor that I had concerns of her being on a long term antibiotic, but he did ease my worries. He explained that the primsol was just a preventative for bad bacteria from multiplying, it was not an antibiotic that treated something that had already occurred. She will never form a resistance to an antibiotic that will be used later in life to treat an infection i.e. penicillin, amoxicillan, etc. It shouldn't affect her intestional flora, but when she is a little older I will still make sure she is eating some yogurt every day. Since there are no indicators of infection for little ones but high fever we will need to pay special attention to Johanna over the next year. If she ever comes down with a high fever with out any explanation she will need to have her urine tested.

So it was good news in my opinion; her reflux is even smaller than we thought and she doesn't have to see the urologist for another year!

Rolling Over

I was letting Johanna get her naked wiggle time in this morning by the fireplace. As soon as I put her on her tummy she started rolling over again. I finally got it on video for everyone. She is so proud of herself and thinks it's so funny. Now ever time I put her on her tummy she immediately rolls over. What a big girl we have :)

Chubby Legs and Silly Faces

I love chubby legs!They are so squeezable.Who you calling chubby?Johanna gumming yet another toy, she really likes this one!Since Johanna loves standing up so much we decided to get her a jumparoo. She is still a little on the small side for it, but in another month or so it will be perfect!She was mesmerised by the different noises and songs it made.Her little feet don't touch the ground yet.Here Johanna just got back from story time at the library. She was filling me in on some stories that she heard.Johanna is at a great age for story time. At first I wasn't sure if she would be too young, but it turns out she loves it. She has a chance to look around at all the big kids playing and sing songs with me, it's so much fun! Hopefully she continues to enjoy it as she gets older.I'm catching a fish!At 3 months 2 weeks Johanna still gets milk comas.It's like Thanksgiving Day over here!

Bran Muffins

Jeff loves bran muffins for breakfast. They are easy to grab and eat on the run and they are a lot healthier than other easy foods. Gigi makes some killer bran muffins so I decided to give them a try too!I found a recipe online, but decided to doctor it up a little. I substituted low-fat organic milk and lemon juice for buttermilk, apple sauce for oil and whole wheat flour for all-purpose flour. I also added dried cherries, golden raisins, and shredded carrots.They turned out pretty yummy!

Valentines Gifts

Today Johanna and I went to Once Upon a Child, a gently used children's clothing store. I loved it! We found all of these adorable outfits all for under 25 bucks. Not bad if you ask me, they look brand new!It's a fist pumping baby...oh no!Thanks Nana for my super warm hat and gloves for Valentines Day, I love them!Our family friend Cheryl sent Johanna this gorgeous and super fun baby blanket from My Vintage Baby.Johanna really loves the way the velvet feels in her mouth, she can't get enough of it.I'm feeling so much better, look at my rosy cheeks!

Johanna has been feeling so much better, she isn't even coughing any more. This means I have been sleeping so much better knowing this. In fact, Johanna slept ALL night last night with out even waking up for her night time meal. I don't know if this will be the norm from now on, but I can tell you that I woke up this morning feeling like a very well rested Dolly Parton!

I haven't had an opportunity to record her flipping over because she hasn't done it since. We took a break from tummy time while her cough was in full swing, it seemed to make it worse while she was lying down. Now that she is feeling better I think she's forgotten how to flip her little body over! Lately she's found her bottom lip and loves sucking away on it, it is so cute. I love this little girl!!

Super Bowl 5k

Our neighborhood rec center puts on a race series each year starting off with a Super Bowl 5k. This year Jeff was able to participate while the rest of the family cheered him on. I was scheduled to race but came down with bronchitis a week prior. Begrudgingly I sat on the sidelines and took pictures. Grandma and Grandpa even came along to watch little peanut inside where it was nice and toasty.Despite frigid temperatures and harsh road conditions the turnout was still pretty good!And they're off!Jeff taking a second to wave to the camera.
Here comes the winner, and look he's a crazy man wearing shorts!His time was 18:06- not bad for how slick the trails were.Careful buddy, your shoe's untied!You're a long ways from Wasington Buddy... it's like Forrest Gump, he just kept running and never stopped.Got to love his spirit!A little while after all the men in tights crossed the finish line, Jeff appeared around the corner of the last stretch.I was slightly relieved to see he was still in good shape! He had strained his back while shoveling our driveway a few days back so I was worried he would hurt himself more.Go Rocky!!! Errr.. Jeff!Good job Jeff, you made it!Look at me, I cheated the system... I got a t-shirt, bib number AND post race beer...and I didn't even race!Miss Johanna had a great time with Grandma on the indoor track. Then she zonked out and had a nice little nap.She woke up though as soon as Jeff got back! Next race up is St. Patty's Day, here's hoping I am nice and healthy for that one!
