Blue skies

Fiona and I went for a walk today to explore our new neighborhood. There is a park right down the road that we discovered connects to the HR walking trails. Look at these beautiful views, it makes me want to go hit the slopes. Fiona was ecstatic that she had so many new things to sniff. Jeff comes home today, maybe we will go for a jog in the morning!

Great Danes do not like snow!

Yesterday as many of you know, Colorado had a 'blizzard.' This meant that for an entire day Fiona refused to go to the bathroom. I knew she had to go because this dog can easily get in about 4 to 5 bathroom breaks a day. Today she went, but only decided to walk about a foot away from the door before going. What a little wimp! Aren't dogs supposed to love the snow? Not this dog...she loves sleeping on couches and sleeping on human beds inside where it is nice and warm.

Busy Busy Busy!

Well Jeff and I are officially moved in to our new home! Things have been quite hectic on the homefront. As well as the craziness of moving into a new home, we have also been entertaining a very dear friend of mine who is visiting Colorado. This morning we just received a really nice and thoughtful gift from Jolene and Eric. You made my day Jolene! Jeff and I will surely be enjoying these bottles of wine. In other news, the first of many babies in my family came into the world. Kilia Marie was born Thursday. She is 6lbs. 5oz. 17.75inches long and is super cute! My sister is up next and I've been waiting anxiously by the phone these last few days...he is coming any day now!

Greetings from 'roughneck Jeff!

Here is the rig that Jeff has been working at since Tuesday. It's a little blurry because it's coming from his cell phone, but you can kinda get an idea! He has just started the next tier of his work where he will be working one week on, one week off all the way up in the mountains somewhere near Grand Junction. There are pros and cons to this schedule, but luckily he will only have to do it for about a year. If we're lucky maybe it will even be less. He is such a hard worker, I am so proud of him!

The story of Jeffrey and Emily

Well Jolene had asked me a while ago to fill everyone in about the story of how Mr. Jeffrey and I had officially met. And seeing how I'm the on-call staff this weekend and I have nothing else to do but sit around and wait for my phone to ring , I think I just might!

It all started February 17, 2007. It was a Wednesday. (at least I think it was...)

My friend had just finished taking her bar exam and I had promised her a week before that I would go out and get a celebration drink with her after. I remember not wanting to go out that night, it was particularly cold and I wasn't in the mood to 'cute' myself up. I specifically remember complaining to my best friend and roommate of the time "I don't even care what I look like tonight, it's not like I'm going to meet my husband or anything." Boy was I wrong!

My friend and I went down the street to Old Chicago. Although it could be described as a bar a few years later after it had gained some recognition, at this time Jeff had referred to it as 'the sausage hangout.' We sat down and ordered a drink and some dinner. I wasn't feeling this night at all I kept day-dreaming of my bed and pillows. Well at some point I had to get up and go to the bathroom. I remember walking to the restroom doors and noticing a table of guys that seemed to be looking my way. How embarrassing..not something you want to happen as you're walking to go pee. Was there something stuck to me? Did I look like I was in obvious bladder discomfort? After I was done I scurried back to the table and forgot about it.

A little while later Jeff came over to our table. I thought "hmm, what is this guy doing over here? I know he can't be coming over her to hit on us at a pizza place." Jeff then tried to act all suave and said that he and his friends always played this game where they guess peoples ages. If he got it right he got a beer, if they got it right they got a beer. He guessed my age was 22. He was right! He later confessed that I had looked 19, but he figured I had to at least be 21 since I was drinking a beer and he didn't want to offend me so he added one extra year. Then he sat down with us at our table and talked our ears off for at least an hour about his job on the oil field and a bunch of other equally boring drinking conversation topics. ;) He was so nice and cute though, I thought he was such a nice guy!

He then tried to convince us that we should go snowboarding the next day. We both humored him and told him that we'd think about it. (later that night we both agreed that it would be very creepy if we went having just met him.)

The next night Jeff called to invite me out to dinner with him and his friends but I was busy so I had to say no. I think he thought I was blowing him off!

Then on Friday I called him and asked him to dinner. He said yes! We went to Cooper Smiths a local pub and then we went out to see "The Zodiac." The movie was pretty lame but I was having so much fun because I was with him!

Well that is our story of how we first met! Yes, I did indeed meet Jeff at a pseudo bar over some very lame pick-up lines! But what a catch he is :)

Now as far as wedding planning goes... we haven't done too much lately. Our next thing to schedule is our cake tasting which we are both really excited about! Who can't be excited about trying a bunch of yummy different cake flavors?

I did just get in my reception earrings which I love! Here is a picture of them, aren't they so fun!

They match my shoes and hairpin!

Second times the charm!

Jeff and I had the opportunity to go skiing again this past weekend with our friend Brooke. It was a lot of fun and I am even better the second time around! People better watch out next year.. I may be the fastest one on the slopes. Maybe one day I'll even ski in the back country instead of standing next to it to take pictures. :)

Our last few weeks...

We are getting down to the last few weeks of living in Fort Collins. I will miss my city... it was such an awesome place to live. Highlands Ranch has a lot to live up to! We celebrated my friends birthday at a very favorite restaurant of mine which has some of the BEST sushi in town, in my opinion that is. Pazzo, our oldest cat at three years old, has been through 4 moves already in her life. She has been having a blast hiding out in all of the random boxes that are taking up space in our apartment. I know she will love all of her new hiding places in our new house!Yesterday we drove down to our new place to drop off all the big stuff that we could grab with out a full sized truck bed..our bikes, golf clubs, camping stuff, etc. Jeff got to spend some time in the garage playing with his tools. Fiona got to spend her time running around the backyard like a crazy woman. And I got to spend time in my 'garden!' I should change that sign to say "Welcome to my dead garden" because I am sure once I get my hands on it things won't be living too long after.
After dropping off stuff at the new place we headed over to a going away party for a family friend of the Overmans. They are moving to Oklahoma so their daughter and Lori threw together an amazing going away party. We even got to spend some time with Russ, Kara and the baby which is always very nice!
