Date Night

Jeff and I got to go out Friday night for date night so we decided to go to The Fort, this restaurant themed after an old fur trading post. I had never been before but had heard great things about it.This picture clearly shows how I was not meant to be an actor. This is my portrayal of being humiliated and angry. The menu featured a lot of items that were food trends of the 1800's. Here is whiskey made with gun powder and tobasco. Jeff thought it was good, but said it had a very strong kick. I took a sniff and it almost knocked me out. I picked out Peanut Butter Stuffed JalapeƱos Escabeche which were pickled jalapeƱos with a mango whipped peanut butter filling. Jeff said this appetizer was created for pregnant women, I had to agree. The best part of the night was by far our dinner...Buffalo, Elk and Quail. I had never had quail before and after eating this I asked Jeff if we would go to Nebraska this hunting season and bring me back a few. It was fantastic! (If you've never had quail before it was in my opinion a mix between chicken, turkey, and duck.)Here I am looking blurry in front of the restaurant sporting my new shirt that Jeff picked out for me at a maternity store as a surprise! (I had to post this because it was just too cute to not share with anyone.)

Scottish Festival

Lori and I went to the Highlands Ranch Scottish Festival this weekend, it was a blast! One of the best parts was riding the little mini bus around town... I know, it's the little things that amuse us!
We were the only adults taking pictures of ourselves ON the bus.
My favorite part of the day was the dog parade, look at the beautiful great danes!

There were a bunch of beefy guys throwing things around. Here was a guy who was competing in this event where you throw this huge telephone pole like object as far as you can. The things Scottish people did back in the day.

Lori tried some bangers and mash (I had a hotdog... I promise this has only been my third hotdog total since I've posted on my hotdog cravings, not bad for a month I think!) We will have to go back next year with Jeff so we can try out the whiskey tasting and haggis, which consists of sheep's heart, liver and lungs simmered in it's stomach. We weren't brave enough to try it on our own.

Growing baby

Here I am looking huge again! She likes to sit up front so I can only imagine how much bigger I am probably going to look. In my opinion, I don't feel like I'm that large but then again I see myself every day so maybe our minds have a way of tricking us into believing we aren't morphing into giant elephants.
We can't wait to meet you little peanut!
I found a chair! I've been checking craigslist every day and Monday this popped up. It's from Pottery Barn and I got it for a steal- 50 bucks!

Happy hump day everyone!

Hank

Hank came over to Brian and Lori's house this morning so Fiona had a little playdate for a while. Hank was not impressed by Fiona and wanted nothing to do with her. As you can see, Fiona wore herself out in an attempt to get him to pay attention to her.

Today I am 27 1/2 weeks so I am considering myself in the third trimester, (books I've read say 27 weeks, Doctor says 28, so I'll meet half way). Baby has caught me off guard a few times with how strong she can kick, and she only weighs a little over 2 lbs, I'm afraid what it will be like next month. This morning I got to feel her hiccuping which was a first for me. Being pregnant brings something new every day!

Killing time at work

I've had a larger than normal amount of desk/computer work this past week at work which has been a good and a bad thing. It is good because I've been able to relax and stay off my feet for the majority of the day, but bad because I have been staying off of my feet for the majority of day which is spoiling me and making me lazy. My residents are constantly joking about whether or not I'm sure I'm only carrying one baby and my co-workers are making fun of the pregnancy waddle that I'm starting to acquire. Resident families can't keep track of my due date and our continuously asking me if I'm past due, no I'm not that big and I've got three more months left thank you! This pregnancy gig sure attracts a lot of attention.
We've taken a break from the nursery aside from the addition of one other item, the drapes. I love the purple because it fits perfectly with the Disney Princess theme, and also ties along with our castle decal that I'll be putting up over the crib. I'm still on a hunt for a glider off of craigslist. I refuse to spend more than 100 bucks on this chair. We went to babies r us to register, and the chair they had suggested was well over $800 bucks including the ottoman, yikes! I think I'd rather go to Mexico.Jeff and I went into REI the other day to look around and I found this cute little vest for peanut. I think it may be my favorite item of clothing so far mainly because I can't wait to take her out hiking in it!

In other news, Jeff told me today that he is approaching a promotion which means.... he will be working in Colorado in a little while! The reason why I'm so excited about this is because it means when I go into labor, he will only be 3 hours away instead of 8. Phew! I've been really worried about that whole scenario for a while. So unless I have an abnormally fast delivery, he should be able to make it home in time for all the fun stuff!

Little Overman

We had our last second trimester doctors appointment today! Now we get to see the Doc every two weeks until the last month, wow! (I'm excited because it gets me out of work early every two weeks...) I got to pick my drink of choice for next appointments glucose screening and decided on the orange flavor. Hopefully this was a good choice? I figured it can't be any worse than a really strong orange soda, right?
Baby is doing great, she is measuring where she's supposed to and had a heart rate of 145bpm. She's really been moving around lately it's so crazy! So far my favorite has been when she moves across my tummy and I can see her little arm/leg/butt scooch across.
Everyone has been asking me if I've been having any crazy cravings since being pregnant. My usual response is no, that I pretty much eat the same crazy stuff that I did before I was pregnant. I can now say that I have had an official craving! HOTDOGS. I know, probably shouldn't even be eating them, but I can't get enough! It's actually somewhat embarrassing, what a stupid food item to want constantly. Jeff was a good husband though and drove me to the closest Sonic 20 minutes away to get me a foot long chili dog for dinner tonight. Mmmmmm, hotdogs...

Wedding time

This weekend went by so quickly, we were having too much fun! Ron, Cheryl, and Jarrod all flew in to stay the OBB and OBBexpress (The Overman Bed and Breakfast, and Bed and Breakfast Express...our house.) On Friday we went to a beautiful rehearsal dinner for our friends Collin and Liz.It was so much fun being able to spend time with Jarrod. He was a groomsman at our wedding but we were so busy the entire time we barely were able to talk to him!For gifts, Collin got all of his groomsmen and ushers bats with different memories engraved on them. Isn't that a great idea? Here are Jeff and Brian taking their baseball card photo. The wedding was gorgeous and we had a blast. Baby didn't know what Mommy was up to the entire night, but she had fun dancing to the live band. Kelli even got to feel her kick a few times! Sadly, this was the only picture I took at the wedding of the bride and groom and I was having issues with my flash. Isn't her dress beautiful?

Morning after the wedding

Today the boys went to play golf by the airport before the Edelens headed back to Oklahoma. I didn't think they could do it, but they were all out the door by 6:30am! Shows how much they love their golfing :) Us ladies slept in instead and met up for lunch a few hours later.Hi Brian and Jeff!Look at these adorable outfits we got for Baby from Grandma. Who knew they would even have things like this out there? We can't wait for her to wear them! (Don't mind the pregnant lady who looks like she was up way past her bedtime the night before!)
