Renaissance Fair

Jeff and I traveled down to Lupton, Colorado for their annual Renaissance fair. We weren't sure what to expect, but we ended up having a really good time! The best part of the entire day was the people watching. You can't believe how many people out there that really get into this kind of stuff. I would have taken pictures of the different people and their outfits/costumes but I didn't want to be obvious. They had a bunch of shows for entertainment. There was a really good Celtic band, a bunch of comedy shows, and jousting tournaments to name a few. There was also a huge pirate following here, not sure why. Were pirates part of the Renaissance era? This guy was cool, he ate fire! Here was my absolute favorite part of the day. They had elephants available to ride on, but while they were walking around they would come up and sniff your hand for any food. We would pick up pieces of grass and then the elephant would come over and pick it up with his trunk just like it were his hand! They were so cute.

Early Birthday

Well after our exciting Wednesday Jeff and I haven't been up to much! I've been busy with work, and Jeff has been getting stuff done around the house while he's been home.He also got his birthday present a little early this year because as you all know we are both horrible at keeping surprises and waiting until the actual day for anything! Jeff has been wanting the PS3 for a long time and I've been suggesting he wait until his birthday, so he finally got his wish. It was a big debate over which game he wanted to get but in the end some war game won over the racing and golf game. Now he can play his game with his brother in Pennsylvania, however that works! While Jeff was deciding which game he wanted, I got to buy a few things for our little peanut. I can't believe how tiny everything is! My only question is which sizes to get. I am afraid to get anything in newborn sizing considering I was an 8 1/2lb baby and my sister had a 10 1/2lb baby but we won't know until she's here what sizes she'll need. I couldn't pass up getting a few things in NB though because they are just so darn cute!

Our little princess!!

We just got back from our 20 week ultrasound and are so excited to announce that we're having a litle baby girl! I sure was surprised, but Jeff knew it all along! For the whole appointment our little girl was very polite and kept her legs crossed. I was starting to get really worried that we wouldn't be able to find out! I was even prepared to do some laps around the office if need be. But in the end our awesome technician (and with the help of me trying several positions on the chair) was able to find out that we were expecting our girl. Everything else looks great, heart is healthy as is brain and all her limbs. She even had a nice round belly which I was certain it had to be a little boy with his daddy's tummy! She is weighing in at 12oz and her heartbeat was 152bpm. We are so excited and can't wait to spend the next 20 weeks planning. I have already picked out the nursery theme... Disney Princesses. I have been reading to her every night for the last few weeks out of my Disney Princess story book, right now we are on Sleeping Beauty. I can't wait to get started!

Baby gadgets

So a new hobby that I've picked up recently is going to Baby's R Us (or any other like store) and walking around aimlessly. Jeff and I went the other week and low and behold I found something to waste money on! It's this gadget that is supposed to pick up your baby's heart beat. It says it only works in the third trimester, but I wanted to give it a try anyway. I set it up tonight and decided to give it a whirl...Either my baby's heart beat sounds like a giant static wind storm, or it's just not close enough for the thing to work. I did however learn that my heart is beating regularly, always good to know. So I will not say this purchase was a waste because I still have hope that it will work in seven more weeks.Isn't this shirt cute? I knew I said I wouldn't bring it up again, but the gals at work are all voting for boy since I am carrying the little one high. Boy is in the lead now!

Spring Cleaning

Jeff and I were hard at work with cleaning the house today and preparing it for the little one. Can you believe we filled up 9 bags full of stuff for the goodwill and dump? We had been meaning to go through all of our junk since we've moved into our house, and a year later we can finally say that we did.Another big task we accomplished was cleaning out the basement. Some of you may remember the bed that was down there for the wedding? Finally gone! We are going to keep this area as the computer room and also turn the space into a play area as well. Our next step will be to install a kitty door leading into the laundry room so we can keep that door shut.Lastly, we moved the bed and cleaned out the nursery! Can't you just picture these walls blue...or pink...

Phew- I'm pooped!

Baby update

So Jeff and I went to our monthly checkup today and everything looks great. Baby's heart rate was 150bpm to which our doctor said "We're getting closer to a boy now," which Jeff was excited to hear. Maybe my boy hunch is correct?? Jeff still has his money- or more officially his ski pass on girl- (If I am correct I said I wanted diamond earrings, but since I have a very bad habit of losing any form of jewelry for my ears I have to pick something more reasonable, and affordable...any suggestions!?) Soon you won't have to hear about how excited I am to find out the sex of our baby, so one last comment... I can't wait until the 23rd! I am ready to be able to identify this little one inside of me as a he or she. The next 11 days will probably drag but in the meantime Jeff and I will be busy gathering things for goodwill and the dump. It's funny how much junk you can gather in one year.
