Baby Bean Update

Yesterday we had a follow up appointment at the OBGYN to check on baby JJ's progress. I've never had an ultrasound at this stage in development so I was excited to see how much my little boy had grown and was looking forward to seeing his little baby boy face. Well guess who was being a little stinker! Baby Bean decided the right side of my tummy was most comfortable and had himself curled up in a little ball completely on his side. His little arms were covering his face and covering his little arms was the umbilical cord. We couldn't see anything and only got a quick look of his cute button nose and left eye as he glanced to the side (probably shaking his head at us saying no! no! no! as his big sister Johanna would say.) Even his little legs were curled up nice and snug covering up his little boy parts. Little JJ was also breech, I could even feel his tiny round head snug against the side of my belly. Luckily, this isn't a concern right now as they typically flip downward between 28-32 weeks according to the Doctor. To ease my concern he did schedule another follow up appointment in 6 weeks to check his positioning and sneak another chance at a face shot, wahoo!! More importantly Johnathan is looking wonderful! His heart rate was 141bpm and was weighing in at roughly 2lbs 13oz. We love you so much Johnathan Jeffrey!
Picture of my little JJ blob. If you look closely enough you can see his left eye and nose with some fingers near his mouth in the upper right corner. The squishy blob is the umbilical cord in front of his arms. Yes, this is the best picture we were able to get after trying for some time to get the little bean to move!
I'm not sure how much Johanna comprehends that there is an actual living breathing baby in Mommy's tummy but she sure has figured out that we call Mommy's huge stomach JJ. For example, while we are lying in bed she will look at my tummy and lift my shirt up saying Jay-Jay! then proceed to give my tummy multiple kisses while rubbing it gently saying awwww. If I ask her where baby brother JJ is she immediately points to my tummy and again lifts up my shirt to give him a kiss. I probably shouldn't encourage this too much for she now loves to lift up my shirt anywhere in public to give her brother a kiss which can be a problem at times seeing as I don't want to flash my big ol' baby bump to everyone! I just know she will love her little brother dearly when he gets here.
First Day as a Butterfly
Johanna is already growing up so quickly. She is no longer a Bunny in her nursery class but has graduated to the Lions/Butterfly room. We also started baby gym up again this month and she is no longer a Tiny Tyke but a Waddler. She loves going to story time and thinks she's as old as the rest of the kids in her class. She is running around like crazy getting into anything and everything and surprising me every day with how many words she knows and says. How smart these little ones are!
