Jeff and I traveled down to Lupton, Colorado for their annual Renaissance fair. We weren't sure what to expect, but we ended up having a really good time! The best part of the entire day was the people watching. You can't believe how many people out there that really get into this kind of stuff. I would have taken pictures of the different people and their outfits/costumes but I didn't want to be obvious.
They had a bunch of shows for entertainment. There was a really good Celtic band, a bunch of comedy shows, and jousting tournaments to name a few.
There was also a huge pirate following here, not sure why. Were pirates part of the Renaissance era? 
This guy was cool, he ate fire!
Here was my absolute favorite part of the day. They had elephants available to ride on, but while they were walking around they would come up and sniff your hand for any food. We would pick up pieces of grass and then the elephant would come over and pick it up with his trunk just like it were his hand! They were so cute.
What a fun day! I went to one of those once, and yes I agree people watching really is the best part!
ReplyDeleteI love the Renaissance fair! Russ and I went every summer...until he turned into an old man and said we had to wait at least 10 years in between visits :) I'm glad you had a good time!
ReplyDeleteThe people watching must have been fabulous, I imagine there are some REAL goofballs at those sort of shindigs. Glad you enjoyed yourselves, looks like a great time. Did you end up eating a turkey leg?
