Mother's Day

For Mother's Day Jeff took me out to dinner at our favorite sushi place down the street. Since we were having family dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's on actual Mother's Day we went the night before and made sure to get there a little early. It ended up working out great, we were practically the only ones in the restaurant so Jeff and Johanna got to spend some time watching the Sushi chefs do their thing. Johanna loved the edamame that we ordered as an appetizer.
We ordered Johanna her first bento box off the kids menu. It said "california roll, teriyaki chicken and crab wonton." We figured it would come with one of each, but instead this was brought out to her! Johanna was in awe...
I was so excited to eat real sushi meaning none of that cooked stuff you can have while you're pregnant. It was worth the wait, delicious! Johanna loved her rice and chicken and had a little taste of her wonton but was not impressed with her sushi roll. (Notice the picture above?)
For Mother's Day Jeff surprised me with a homemade craft he made with the kids in secret. He was able to take a mold of Johanna's hand and JJ's foot. We still need to paint them, but look how it captured every wrinkle and detail- they are so precious. He did a great job, thanks Jeff!

I hope everyone had a great Mother's Day. On Sunday we made it to church and then I was able to go grocery shopping child-free. That in itself was a vacation! Hope everyone else was able to spend some time with their families as well as some time for themselves :) We love you Nana, Grandma, Oma, Gigi, Aunt Lissa and Aunt Tura! And all the other Moms and Moms to be out there :)

  2. Love how Johanna is looking at her bento box meal. Looks like she is carefully deciding what to try first!
