Jeff and I drove to the mountains today to check out the changing aspen trees. It's always hard to judge when you should make the trip, you might go up too early and not see anything or you could be a week late and not see anything. We made perfect timing this year, the trees were changing everywhere. It really starts to feel like fall once you make a trip up to see the changing colors. While driving to our destination I saw a giant hotdog stand off to the side of the road, it was 9 am so we figured it wasn't appropriate breakfast food. But on the way back we had to stop...it was like it was made for me! Judging by the line from the outside you wouldn't think it would take that long to get a hotdog. Well we waited in line for over an hour! I think mountain people are a lot like people from the South, they like to take things slow. But it was so worth it in the end! Jeff got some type of jalapeno elk hotdog and I got the gigantic foot long hotdog covered in sauerkraut. No, I did not finish it all- but I was close :)
ok i am impressed with 2 things....1 the beautiful pics of the fall trees and the coney island stand in the mountains....well now that I think of it, I am impressed with 3 things, the fact that you almost finished the HUGE hot dog! LOVE IT
This was the prefect post! I needed a good Colorado fix and nothing is more Colorado than the aspen trees changing and a trip to Cony Island. We pass it on the way to my family's cabin and it's kind of a tradition to make a stop and get corn dogs and milk shakes. It's very common for the line to be that long and it's always worth the wait! I'm glad you enjoyed your experience and that you timed the leaves perfectly! We're still waiting for the leaves to change here. THANK YOU for this post!!
