Squash

Yesterday I tried my first batch of butternut squash for Johanna. I had an extra squash lying around that I needed to use up so I cut it into pieces.

Then I added it to my rice cooker and steamed it while some rice cooked for my dinner. (Thanks Lori I love my rice cooker!)
After it was nice and soft I pureed it into a nice baby food consistency. Wow, making your own baby food is a breeze!
Johanna loved the squash. I think she also liked that it was served nice and warm... I haven't been heating her rice or banana so the temperature change was probably fun for her. So much fun she was making bubbles the entire meal..
And for dessert... a tasty bib.

Here are a few shots of Johanna working on sitting up on her own.
Oh..and a side note we are SOOO excited to have Russ, Kara and the boys move home this month, I can't wait!!

  1. I can't wait to come over and give Johanna a big squeeze anytime I want to!! We'll have to have baby food making parties! It's so easy and we can make more variety if we team up. The squash looks yummy! Using the rice cooker to steam the veggies is such a smart idea! You're amazing :)
