Trick or treat!

Look I'm posting from my phone! How cool is that? Now I can be even more blog obsessed with this app...

Last year for Halloween Johanna was 4 days old so we locked the doors, turned off the lights and watched movies while the trick-or-treaters were out and about. This year we wanted to make sure we were part of the action.

We started of the Holiday with a chili-sundae/pumpkin carving party at our friend Brittany's house. Her adorable daughter Rebecca is the little 9 month old ladybug in the corner.

Next of course was Johanna's costume b-day party. Then on Sunday we went off to Grandma and Grandpa's to carve all the pumpkins we've gathered. For some reason all the pumpkins Jeff and I picked out were lacking in the stick-icky gunk usually found inside. There wasn't much for Johanna to play with which was fine because as it turns out she wasn't that interested.

Her cousin Nathan on the other hand was loving the pumpkin guts. He couldn't get enough of the stuff!

Two years ago we noticed that trick-or-treating wasn't what we remembered it to be. There just weren't that many kids coming to our door and by the end of the night we were passing out handfuls of candy just to make sure we didn't end up with it all at the end! We decided to try out Russ and Kara's neighborhood to see if they were any more active. Here is a picture of Johanna's first official trick-or-treat house!

She picked a bag of M&Ms and boy was she proud she didn't put that packet down till I took it away from her.

Since Johanna wasn't going to be eating any of her treats we let her watch for the remainder of the houses. She wasn't too sure of the whole ordeal!

We saw this kitty on the neighbors porch and thought it put our kitty pumpkin to shame!

Here we are back at the house sorting through our goods. Johanna got one pack of M&M's, whoppers and reeses pieces. Guess who ate them all ;) And as it turns out Russ and Kara's house was equally as slow...where are all the trick-or-treaters?  They must go to the million dollar neighborhoods to get the king sized candy bars...it's the only explanation!

What a great start to a new family tradition. I can't wait to see what all the kids will be next year. Nathan and Johanna will be running around like crazy and baby bean will be 7 months old holy smokes. Happy Halloween...now on to Thanksgiving!
