Johanna had her 1 year (and 1 week!) appointment today. I can't believe it's been 6 months since her last well visit. It doesn't seem like it though since her Doctor is the same as mine she's been seeing him every 4 weeks! She did very well in her appointment she was very excited to see the picture of the horse on the wall and would randomly point and shout "Hurssss!" and then laugh to herself. She thought it was funny when the Doctor looked at her eyes and told her to look at his nose but did NOT like it when he looked inside her ears. Since she was getting a flu shot we were able to break up her 7 shots into two appointments, 4 today and 3 in four weeks when we go back for her flu booster. She got so upset her face turned beat red and her whole body shook in either pain or anger when they poked her. Luckily as soon as I picked her up she buried her head in my shoulder and calmed down. She is 29 1/2 inches and weighed 21.7lbs both somewhere in the 50th percentile. I can't believe she is 3 times the size that she was at birth and this time she barely fit in the baby scale!
We have decided on Baby Bean's name...Johnathan Jeffrey Overman or John/J.J. I love hearing about how families chose the names for their children so here is a little background information of where we came up with J.J.'s name: The day before our appointment I was going for a walk on the treadmill and the name John popped into my head. I texted Jeff and asked him what he thought about the name Jonathan and we both agreed that we loved it.
We both knew that the original form of Jonathan is spelled without the H. However, we both prefer John over Jon and also wanted to name him after St. John the Apostle. As a little biblical history lesson if you're curious John the Apostle was the only one of twelve disciples that did not forsake Jesus during His hour of Passion. He stood faithfully at the cross and at the hour of his death Jesus entrusted John to care for the only possession that he had, His Mother. He is also known as the Apostle of charity.

Anyway we also wanted to include Jeff in the middle name. John Jeff Overman sounded ridiculous to us as did John Jeffrey. So Johnathan Jeffrey it was! Bonus we really love the nickname J.J.! So seeing how Jeff and I both hate drawn out decisions we let the name sink in overnight and went through the books one more time to see if anything else jumped out. But nothing stuck like John. I guess chosing a name is like chosing a wedding dress, you know when you know :)
We love you Johanna and J.J.!
Adorable pictures of Johanna and Nathan!! They are sooo cute. I can't wait to meet little John (J.J.) he is going to have so much fun playing with his cousins. These next few months are going to fly by. I remember bc I was on the exact same timeline as you for Max! Lol- he was due on March 26th. Maybe your boy will be a big guy like his cousin :) I really hope not though for your sake, Ems. Love you guys! Johanna is doing great!! Hope she is feeling okay from her shots.
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking what would i do without all of these blogs to check out each day. I would go through withdrawls if all of you had to stop for some reason. I too can not wait for the next Overman arrival. Cute pics as always !!
ReplyDeleteI just thought the two of them were too cute not to snap come pictures of on Thursday! I'm glad you were able to use them. I love that you included the story of Johnathan Jeffrey. Now all we have to do is wait for him to get done cookin'!
ReplyDeleteI also love J.J.! It's actually the nickname for our boy name (if we ever have one!) as well! Great minds think alike! Great pics of miss Johanna!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome Brittany! We can have two little J.J.s' running around, I love it! Time for another :)
ReplyDeleteJJ is cute, I love nicknames. I named Jacalyn Christine, because I wanted her to be called JayCee. But it really never stuck, some of her relatives on Tony's side still call her Jaycee, but I didn't once she got older. (and I am the one that wanted to call her that), I called Joe JoJo and some people still call him that, but he doesn't like it. Johanna loves her baby doll so much, does she carry it around with her all the time? Too cute.
