Dog Festival

At Belleview Park there is a mini petting zoo and train that travels around the park. For an easy free outing I packed up the kids, pumpkin spice latte in hand (yum!) and headed down the road to the park. Turns out when we got there the zoo and train were closed after Labor Day...booo... Instead we got to enjoy splashing our toes in the cool water while looking for fishies!
The weather has recently dropped from mid 90's to mid 70's so it felt so nice to put some jeans on and enjoy the fresh air.
Even though we missed out on the train ride we happened to be there during a dog festival! After playing in the water we got to dry off while watching a police dog presentation. One of the dogs was a german shepard who slightly resembled Kara and Russ' dog, Lizzy. Johanna thought she was watching Lizzy the entire time and was very excited for that particular dogs performance.
We brought a picnic lunch where JJ worked on sitting up all on his own!
Johanna remembered the park from our last visit with Kara and the boys (thanks Kara for introducing us to this park!) so I let her search for our familiar picnic spot. On the way she collected a bracelet from a dog stand.
Before heading home we made one last round through the festival. Johanna had a blast seeing all the different dogs particularly the rescue doggies in wheel chairs. She thought about 50% of the dogs from the day were Lizzy and even saw a few great danes that resembled Fiona. We got a bunch of souvenirs to take home to her so as soon as we got back Johanna made sure to run up and give her a big hug!
