Johanna and I went to our favorite store, Once Upon a Child to get a few gently used toys to play with. While we were there I noticed they were having a '10 for 10' sale on their books. I love books and I especially love them when they are only a buck a piece! See the red book in the bottom left corner? Four stories of Amelia Bedelia, another one of my childhood favorites- score!

I really enjoy reading stories to Johanna. It is part of her bedtime routine to read 2 stories, say prayers, nurse, then go to sleep. Now that she is getting older she is starting to want more control over how quickly I turn the pages and how long we spend on each book. It is becoming increasingly more difficult to finish any story with the exception of one book: her baby animals picture book from her cousin Max. She loves this one but I have my suspicions it is mainly due to the fact this book also includes Mom making weird animal noises with each picture.
I would like to believe that Johanna loves the plot and illustrations of each story but who am I kidding...she just wants to get her little greasy hands on the pages so she can crunch them all up.
Oh well! Best ten bucks I've ever spent...and maybe one day she will actually appreciate the story part :)
Johanna is quickly approaching 7 months old (in 2 days!) I am not sure when the 'correct' age is to try out the finger food puffs, but I've noticed her eyeballing her peers while they munch on them.
They container says if they can sit up on their own (yes) can pick up small objects between fingers (yes) can eat a thicker consistency of baby food (yes) and are crawling...okay this is a no but 3 out of 4 ain't bad! They dissolve so quickly I figured there wasn't any harm in trying. She had a fun time playing with them with her little fingers. It was dissolving in her hands before she even got it up to her mouth! All in all I think it was a success.
About 2 months ago Johanna discovered that it was a lot of fun drinking out of a big person cup. She would watch me intently as I filled up my glass from the fridge then observe as I drank water from it. Gradually she started reaching for my glass. Now I can't get myself a glass of water with out her wanting a sip.
She gets so excited when she sees me filling up my glass with water. She gets a huge grin, sticks out her tongue and reaches for my glass.
When I put the glass up to her mouth she makes little gulping noises until the water touches her lips.
It is so adorable! She just loves her water so much.
I started giving Cheerios to the girls by that age. They love them and will stay in the highchair for some time and be entertained - plus you'll be amazed at how quick their dexterity improves! Try BabyMumMums they love them and are also good for the age.
