Before we left Glenwood Springs we had to make a stop at a little Bavarian restaurant that I had been craving after I had spotted it the day before. There were so many yummy things to chose from, I had the Hungarian goulash- spaetzels just like my Grandma makes with beef paprikash and sauerkraut on top, yum!
We were too full after eating our lunch we couldn't even try any of their Bavarian pastries.
While we were driving back I was able to snap a photo of the Colorado River. The weather went from cold to warm so quickly the mountain snow melted so fast that the river was the highest it's been since sometime in the 80's! Typically this canyon is at least another 15 feet deep but this time it was covered with rushing water. Can you believe there is usually a running path along the highway to the left? It is also completely flooded. Needless to say we couldn't go on the walk I had originally planned on.
Johanna behind the drivers seat. She liked this steering wheel as much as her toy one back home!
We were able to find a trail that wasn't completely flooded, the Grizzly Creek trail. It ran alongside a creek leading to the river so it was nice and cool.
We got to try out our new hiking backpack, I love it! It seems to fit very comfortably and Johanna loved the new view from up high. There are only so many places you can take the B.O.B. so now I love the fact that I can take Johanna anywhere! There are several hikes I am looking foward to going on now that are nearby our house.
The water was rushing by so quickly you should have seen it in person!
Blowing raspberries
It was a great end to a wonderful much needed mini-vacation, thank you Jeff for taking us! The worst part about it all was that Jeff had to leave for Montana the next morning. The last time he spoke to someone in the office they estimated 3 months more of traveling which would put him home around September. Everyone keep us in your prayers that this works out!!!
This is off topic but I am not able to post comments on anyone's page now! It is very disappointing. I get to the end, type a comment then it asks me to sign in even when I already am signed in so I sign in then it erases my comment. This happens over and over and I never get to post anything. Boo! So I am secretly reading everyone's blog just not commenting for now :)

Your Johanna carrier looks wonderful. my favorite part is the cover over her head. I like that Jeff can use it too. That is a bum that you can not do comments, it is such a fun part of the blogging.
ReplyDeleteI love the baby carrier too!! Wish we had an abundance of trails to necessitate one in FW ;) I'm glad you guys had such a great time.
