Bath Time

I love pandora.com, you can chose which type of music you want to listen to and it will only play music fitting your selection.Today Johanna I wanted to listen to Disney music. She LOVED the music from the Jungle Book (Wan'na Be Like You, and The Bare Necessities.) Or maybe she just liked watching me trying to sing them to her, those are some hard songs to keep up with!Yesterday we got to spend some time with my friend, Kristi. She is doing some work in some elementary schools around the neighborhood so we were able to meet up and get dinner at one of my favorite restaurants P.F. Changs. Johanna didn't want to sit in her car seat, so she sat at the table like a big girl and joined in on the girl talk.I've noticed that Fiona likes to check on Johanna when she hears her starting to fuss. Today while she was waking up from her nap I made sure to grab my camera. How would you like to wake up to that face?"Really Mom, do you have to take photos of me in the tub?"Do you notice the tiny red patches on her chest? I have been religiously applying lotion after bath time to prevent her from getting dry patches. I try to limit her baths to twice a week since Colorado is so dry and she isn't getting too messy at this age. I noticed the other day she was getting some dry skin, I have the same problem in the winter time. Any one know of a great lotion to take care of this? Right now we are using Burts Bees.Sometimes it's hard to tell how much Johanna has grown since bringing her home. When I put her in her bathtub today I was surprised to see that her little legs barely fit once she got busy splashing and kicking. Look at these chubby little things!

Johanna is still hard at work trying to find her fingers.

Of course no entry is complete with out a picture of Johanna zonked out :)

  1. I love the video of Johanna sucking her fingers i turned up the sound and watched it a bunch of times and laughed each time. Johanna looks like her time in the bathtub is winding down.

  2. She does look big when she's in the bath tub, but she still looks little when Kristi is holding her. Pretty soon she can sit up in her tub and that will bring all new kinds of fun! I love the video. She is just so content to lay there and chew on her hand. Life is good :)

  3. She is just too cute!!! Love the eating of the hands-they must taste so yummy-well not as yummy as mommy and daddy's I'm sure;) atleast for Brynn. We listen to Pandora as well-are you familiar with Raffi? I love him, Katie bug used to listen to him-so I've carried it over to Brynn!
Funny you do the same thing as me in the bath-it seems like that is the biggest tell tale sign that they are getting bigger!! I gave Brynn a bath today too and thought wow-pretty soon we will be transitioning into the seat bathtime thingy (don't know what it's called). By the photo-it looks like Johanna is catching up to Brynn-I sooooo hope you guys come out to Cali!!!

As far as lotion, it's recommended to not use lotion until six months of age but we use Aquaphor adaptic, found in the lotion isle. It's more like vasoline consitancy, we use it on burns in the burn unit I used to work in. The trick too, is putting it on within 3 minutes post bath! Ps I use the aquaphor for everything, diaper rash, lip moisturizer, and skin!

  4. Thanks Leah! I wonder if me using the regular lotion is causing the sensitivity? I looked through our hospital bag and happened to find some aquaphor and some hydrocerin. Looks like the hydrocerin is also petrolatum based- I wonder if that one will work as well? Lori had suggested putting a little baking soda in the water to soften it, I am going to look into that too.

and Raffi- I used to love him when I was little, is he still around?! I'm going to pandora him today.

  5. I used aquaphor too--it worked on Max's sking really well. I also LOVE pandora!! I put it on my iphone and we will listen to it everywhere. I like to eat, eat, eat apples and banaanaas hehe.
Her pictures are adorable. Her facial expressions in the bath pics remind me of Max's facial expressions at that age. lol, I will have to post his pics like that.
