Fall is my favorite season by far. I love pumpkin spice latte's (this year I also love salted caramel lattes...) fresh apples, changing leaves, sweaters... I could go on and on! Yesterday we had a MOPS playdate set up at a pumpkin patch a half hour away near Colorado Springs. The weather was perfect and the 'patch was loaded with tons of fun activities for kids of all ages!
Love how much your kids enjoy playing in the sandbox but hate the mess it leaves behind? Try a 'cornbox' next time, you'll be amazed!
It was a giant box filled with kernels of corn- amazing! Johanna and Etta were mesmerized. If it weren't for the horrid idea of thousands of varmint swarming our cornbox, I would set one up in our backyard.
These two girls are so cute! Etta was born December 10th and they have known each other almost their whole lives. Johanna must have called Etta up that morning to see if she would be wearing her teal shirt too.
It was quite the challenge watching little miss independent. Between my growing pregnant belly, pushing a stroller and trying to handle a squirming pre-toddler who wanted to walk around and explore it was quite the challenge. She also insists on doing everything the big kids are doing - here she is attempting to climb the giant hay mountain.
Look Mom, I did it!
I have never seen something like this before, a giant hay slide! It was just like the hay mountain but set even higher with three separate slides you zoomed down on a burlap sack. The picture before this I had a look of terror on my face, I was certain my butt was going to be sorry by the end.
Johanna loved it though! Next year she can go on her own :)
We found an abandoned wagon that was perfect for the girls. They spent as much time riding around the 'patch with Katie pulling as the big kids did going down the slide.
The hit of the day of course was the petting zoo. Anything fuzzy and smelly Johanna loves! Here she is trying to call the alpaca over with her squeals.
This little sheep was the most friendly thing I've ever seen. He would come over every few minutes to Johanna and sniff her fingers while Johanna just giggled uncontrollably. This was also the start of Johanna's bad behavior for she no longer wanted to do anything else at the pumpkin patch but go and see her new friend.
Included in our group package was a pumpkin. Who doesn't love picking out pumpkins! It reminds me of one of my favorite children's Halloween books-The Littlest Pumpkin.
We had a great time at the pumpkin patch. I am looking forward to going again next weekend to another with some backup help (aka Jeff) haha!
Here is the pumpkin miss Hannie picked out!
How fun!! She looks like she is having a great time with her little friend. We are going to try and go to one this weekend if the weather cooperates. I wonder if there will be a hay slide, lol- how is your butt? I want Max to have a corn box! hehe
ReplyDeleteJohanna is getting so big! Can't believe she's gonna be a big sister. Hope you are feeling well. Looks like a great day.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun place and the cornbox is a great idea (as long as they don't put them in their ears or noses). You could do a little one, just go to your local feed store and buy a bag of corn for chickens. The picture with her looking sideways looks like she has a mohawk. I can now post again, Leah fixed it for me. Keep those cute pictures coming, I love looking at them.
ReplyDeleteI love the cornbox! We should so do that!! Great pictures! I can't wait until we go next weekend!
