Johanna gets such a kick out of animals Jeff really wanted to take her somewhere to see some more up close. Awhile back someone had mentioned this place called the White Fence Farm in Lakewood, Colorado about a twenty minute drive from our house. We called up Grandma and Grandpa to see if they would want to join in on the fun.
Of course the petting zoo was Johanna's favorite. Here she is poking Dora the cows wet nose.
Jeff showed her that the billy goat loved eating the crunchy leaves so she then spent the next few minutes finding leaves off the ground to throw at the billy goat.
The White Fence Farm is actually a family style fried chicken restaurant! It was filled with separate dining rooms all decorated as if you were in someones home down on the farm. Since we are quickly approaching peanut's birthday we told our waitress and they came out and sang her happy birthday!
She got her own ribbon and a taste of pumpkin pie.
She also got a token to pick a prize from the treasure box!
Johanna has developed a fear of pretend men. I am not sure where or when this fear started. We noticed it first when we took her to the costume store (maybe this is what started it?) We told her this man in the old fashioned truck was Grandpa twenty years ago...
Grandpa told her this man was her Uncle Tony...
And Thomas Jefferson kind of looked like her Papa. She wanted nothing to do with any of them.
Old fashioned candy is my favorite! I came home with a big bag of raspberry licorice made from the Amish in good ol' Ohio, yum!
Don't these sock monkey's look as if they're thinking "please take me home..."
What we didn't realize when we first arrived was there was a whole section of fun things to do in the front of the farm that we missed in the daytime. There was a pond with tons of ducks, a tree house, a playground and gazebo.
We didn't let the dark ruin our fun! Nothing like the smell of fried chicken and manure to end your night.
What fun!! Can't wait to go in the spring. What a great find :)
ReplyDeleteWould love to go there with you guys too! I love the picture of Johanna peaking through the fence with the cow. What a cool place- they seem to do a lot of b-days, how nice :)
