New West Fest

Ahh festivals. Who doesn't love the people, live music and smells of carnival food wafting through the air? Last weekend we headed up to Fort Collins to meet with our friends Brooke and her fiance Brad. We decided to go up for the day to check out New West Fest, a weekend long festival with numerous stages set up downtown where various bands and musicians performed for free. I love it!
While we were lounging in the grass enjoying a jazz band Johanna got to taste her very first funnel cake... mmmm!
JJ had to wear his CSU shirt while he was visiting Fort Collins, it says 100% pure ram fan and I found it at the Target in Denver of all places.
Jeff had to take them down to the stage to see the band up close and personal.
Then of course we had to check out the children's area. She was so brave and wanted to go on the little train ride all on her own.
Look, she wasn't even afraid of the train conductor!

They traveled all around the street there were even times I couldn't even see the train anymore. I was a little worried she would get nervous.
But then the little train would come putting up the street again and there she was all smiles moving her steering wheel around as if she were driving.
 Such a cutie pie!
 Listening to some music.
After the train ride we headed down to a different stage to listen to a bluegrass band perform. Johanna and Jeff had a great time dancing to the music.
 This girl's got some moves.
Weeee!
After we were all danced out we had more fun walking around Old Town while Johanna got to climb around and play.
This picture cracks me up. We were there way past nap time so before dinner I could tell she was running out of steam fast. Since our car seat holds up to 35lbs I asked her if she wanted to take a break in the car seat. She said yes and she had a blast lounging back in the chair, we had a hard time getting her out!
After a day full of music and friends we made a stop at Bo Jo's pizza for some dinner before heading back on the road. We were debating between holding out for the (free) headliner Alison Krauss but decided we'd better get the kids home. What a great day!
