Scary Day

Yesterday was the longest day of my life. On Monday night we had our friends Katie, Thomas and Etta along with Kara, Russ and the boys over for a sushi dinner. We had a great time rolling our own tuna and salmon rolls for Russ and Katie's birthday. After everyone left Jeff and I tackled the mountain of dirty dishes together. While I was finishing up I decided to take my wedding ring off. Now I never take my ring off. I shower, sleep and play in my ring. But since I've been running so much my ring finger has started to get really tender and sore from the hot weather and it just needed a night to breathe. I placed it in a safe spot on the counter and finished up the dishes.
The next morning I went downstairs to start my morning cup of joe and to put my ring back on. Of course when I went to grab it -gasp!- it was gone! I then spent the next 13 hours tearing apart the house looking for it. I looked in the sink, in the garbage, under vents, behind the dishwasher. You name any part of the house and I was there looking! Well finally Jeff gets home and fighting back tears I hand him the kids and head out the door on a jog for a much needed break. While I was gone Jeff searched the house to no avail. Right before bed Jeff asks if I had checked the drawers of my dresser I told him yes I had looked inside them. He heads upstairs and a few minutes later he comes downstairs with a big smile holding my wedding ring, he had found it!!! Apparently the night before I had grabbed the ring from the counter and brought it upstairs placing it on top of my dresser before bed. Jeff thinks that sometime in the morning while he was getting ready he knocked it over where it then fell in between my dresser drawers and was stuck at the bottom along the side. I hadn't even thought to look way down there.
I was so lost without my ring I couldn't even think straight. Thank you Jesus! Thank you St. Anthony, my Mom and my friends for praying for us. I know it is just a possession but it is my wedding ring that Jeff picked out just for me that has so much sentimental value that I just can't imagine not having it. I will NEVER be taking it off again!
In other news happy 5 months to my beautiful baby boy.
And happy 22 months to my gorgeous baby girl.
Johanna is busy learning a whole bunch of new things and taking everything in like a big sponge. One of her favorite things to do these days is sing. She is always singing some little tune or asking me to sing a song for her "Mama, princess song!" (big surprise.) She loves singing her ABC's or ABCD's as she calls them, any song from Rapunzel or Beauty and the beast aka her princess songs, Jesus Loves Me, Edelweiss, the Goodnight song from the Lawrence Welk show, the Mickey Mouse clubhouse song and hot dog song, the Superwhy song and a few more. It is hilarious listening to her tiny little voice. She is still in repeater mode and I have to remind Jeff constantly to watch what he says around her. Although I admit she picks up what I say just as easily. At the mall Daddy was trailing behind us so she turns around waving her hand "Jeff! Follow me!" This year is flying by I just can't believe I am already starting to think about her second birthday.
JJ loves to kick and wiggle and always has his little legs moving. He absolutely loves bouncing in his jumparoo and is even liking his ergo baby carrier now. He thinks grabbing Mommy's nose, mouth and chin is the funniest thing ever and does it every chance he gets. When he lies on his back or tummy he likes to move around in circles to grab whatever toys are around him. Last week I posted that we were starting solids. After two days he got stuffed up and had horrible gas so we stopped his cereal and went back solely to Mama's milk. Finally after one week he is back to normal. I knew we were starting a little early and I should have just listened to my gut and waited, poor guy. But as parents you live and learn! So looks like bubs has another month to wait then its bananas and avacados for my little man.

  1. I am so sorry that you had to go through the losing of your ring :(. I did that once too when we lived in Ca. I found mine in the lazyboy chair, I had placed it on the arm while putting on lotion. I too ran sacked the house and cried a bucket if tears so afraid to tell Brian. All ended well that is why I never take my off either yardwork, painting whatever. God bless your ring.

  3. I love the picture of you and J.J. They are beautiful! I'm so glad that you found your ring! Not that it is going to happen again, but that would have been the perfect opportunity to drop the kids off at my house so you could search...Just want you to know that I'm here for you!

  4. Am I so weird or what. I think mine if off my finger more then it is on and shoot if I lost it that means I get to pick a new one out. :) I think I lack sentimentality.
Glad u found yours! I do hate that panicked feeling when u lose something.
