I finally got around to taking down the Halloween decorations today. Then I spent a couple minutes looking around the house for my Thanksgiving stuff before realizing I really only had these two things, my ceramic leaves and little pilgrim guy.
But while looking around the house I also realized I have a ton of Johanna's artwork from school lying around not being put on display. Who needs to spend money on decorations when you have your very own Van Gogh's living in the same house as you?
So in comes our dear friend, Pinterest. JJ love getting his hands messy just as much as his big Sis does.
Just a little warning when you do this kind of stuff with the kiddos be prepared for them to start doing it all on their own too! Remember, washable paint is your friend!
I put my own spin on the pinterest idea (which by the way you checked out my Sister-in-Laws website spinupgirls.com?) I didn't have any white paint for our clouds, so I cut some out of paper instead.
I always encourage different ways to paint to teach creativity. Johanna loved using the sponge brush to pain the water.
Another Mom favorite, glue sticks. Always fun for the kids and easily washable too.
Another opportunity to stretch that creative mind, have them place their clouds on their own in the sky.
Oh, and while you are doing all this make sure your other little ones aren't playing with electrical cords.
Ta-da! I loved this free activity and teaching opportunity. Look at those tiny Nina, Pinta and Santa Maria ships!
I took a minute to cut out some squares and paint the letters for a Give Thanks banner then showcased some of Johanna's artwork from school. It is free and a great way to show your kids you are proud of what they do! Oh and isn't her little pumpkin the funniest thing on the mantle? I couldn't help but laugh when she gave it to me, the poor little guy looks so sad!

I love it! That's a great idea for an activity. I'm really looking forward to when Penny is old enough to do crafts like that.
ReplyDeleteYou will have tons of fun! She may even like getting her hands dirty now, you should give it a try when you are in a cleaning mood, haha!
