Rainy Day

We are members of the Denver Museum of Nature and Science. Out of all the museums Denver has to offer, this one is by far my favorite to bring the kids to. I've already posted of our journey to the museums in the past such as Johanna's first trip but this is a post about JJ's first trip! Saturday was rainy and cold, the perfect day to spend indoors. There was a special exhibit featuring artifacts from the ancient Roman city of Pompeii. The history of Pompeii has always intrigued me so I was really looking forward to checking it out. There was no flash photography allowed inside so this photo was taken from their website. It is a photo of one of the bodies discovered from an archaeologist back in 1860. The bodies were frozen in time from the volcanic ash and later disintegrated leaving behind these empty shells that were filled with plaster. It was very interesting to see something so visual from almost 2,000 years ago (79 AD). If you live in the area I highly recommend it!
After our special trip to that exhibit we checked out Johanna's favorite, the wildlife exhibits. See that wooden llama to the left of me? Johanna is crying because she slid right off him while trying to sit on her own.

Posing by Johanna's favorite animal.
JJ was really enjoying himself and let us know by screeching.
Checking out the antelope with big sis.
Look at me, I'm such a big boy!
We took a break for JJ to nurse and get down and wiggle. I loved these huge windows overlooking City Park and downtown Denver.
While playing in the children's area they had an African tribal music presentation.

Johanna got to pick an instrument to play then the kids were invited up front for a performance. Johanna was the youngest one there of the group so she wasn't quite sure what was going on but she had a good time. The ending of this video just cracks me up!

Before heading home we had our packed lunch in the cafeteria. While we were eating we got to look out the window as the giant snowflakes fell from the sky. I love the snow! Well...as long as we're inside where it's nice and warm.
