Did you know that Denver has one of the most expensive public transport systems in the country? Okay, so I don't have the stats to prove that, but I heard it somewhere so it must be true...ha! For the record it is eight dollars to downtown Denver and back. On Saturday we were invited to a Bronco's tailgate so Jeff and I bit the bullet and took the lightrail.
It was JJ and Johanna's first trip and I think their excitement changed both of our views of the lightrail...but not by much, it is still pretty annoying heehee... JJ was so super excited looking out the windows from the bridge down to the busy traffic.
Well, Johanna was a little preoccupied with her minnie mouse app. Can you say total girl from this picture? What a ham.
They were so excited when they boarded the bus. JJ didn't know what was going on, but big sis' excitement was contagious.
Johanna recently got a pretend camera for her birthday and was having a blast snapping her photos documenting the experience. It was the cutest thing ever, I just wanted to gobble that little peanut up!
The lightrail also runs alongside the Union Pacific rails so we passed several trains along the way. Johanna was keeping her ears open for those choo-choo trains.
We were invited to the Halliburton tailgate for the Broncos vs. the Chargers game. We were invited to the game but taking the kids to the tailgate was enough of a feat in itself. That and we were celebrating my birthday for family dinner night and we didn't want to be late for that! Turns out they had a blast, Jeff's boss is a natural with the kids and it was really fun to see him interacting with Johanna and JJ.
I love our stroller. If you are in the market for a double I highly suggest the Baby Jogger City Select. When we are out and about and happen to miss nap time I know the kids can still get a nap in their seat. This time around Johanna just wanted some quiet time. She kept asking me to cover her seat up with the blanket so it was quiet and dark for her. I gave her my phone and wallet to play with. Ooops forgot there was a packet of stamps in there... or in a 2 year olds eyes stickers. A 2 year old that likes to stick stickers all over her body... oh boy!
JJ preferred to sleep on Troy and Jeff's shoulders. We had a blast at the tailgate, they had several different smokers set up for various meats. There was fried chicken, smoked brisket, bacon wrapped teriyaki chicken, shredded beef, jambalaya etc. etc. so good! I love food.
JJ was in heaven. Football and tons of snuggling life doesn't get better than that!
Goooo Broncos!! We won by the way 30-23, I love Peyton :)
So we had a blast. The lightrail was fun, the tailgate was fun and Johanna and JJ loved every minute. Maybe I will have the courage to take them to a game next time. If it's in a suite...and it's warm and sunny...and I get plenty of food. Go Broncos!
I tell you public transportation has its plus. It's such a positive start to a fun afternoon.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!!! Until the way back missing your bus then having to wait another 20 minutes for the next, then having to pee the entire way back but having to wait for each little stop then still having to battle traffic on the drive back... okay okay I'll stop complaining!! For the kids it was fun :) :)
DeleteLets hope Johanna does not have your bladder !! Or Jeff's sense of time. Ha !
ReplyDeleteLooks like so much fun!
