Christmas Day

After spending our morning in our jammies we headed over to Grandma and Grandpas. Russ made some super yummy meatballs to snack on all day.
Not too long after we arrived we heard a knock on the door and who should it be but Santa himself!

Tyler and Nathan did so well!! They were both so polite and so excited to tell Santa what they got (from him) for Christmas. They even sat on his lap, I was very impressed!
Johanna on the other hand was terrified and clung to Grandpa for dear life. JJ was asleep but I can guarantee he would be doing the same thing! So my kids have a phobia of jolly old guys in red suits, what can I say? lol.
We all had a great time exchanging gifts and spending the day with each other.

Tyler and Nathan got Johanna a pretend doctors kit and she absolutely loves it. Of course she let me know she was princess Dr. Johanna.
After our homemade marshmallows sat overnight I was really eager to cut into them to see how they turned out!
They were amazing and so so easy to make. If you've got a counter mixer, gelatin, sugar, corn syrup, vanilla and water you're set. And I promise they taste much better than the store bought kind. I am drinking hot cocoa right now with a big chunk of 'mallow and it is heavenly :) Check out the recipe here.
We snacked on so many yummy treats all day long. I had to make my favorite brie cheese spread with jalapenos and apricot jam. As I am about to post the recipe I am realizing I never added the pecans...whoops...anyway here it is, make it I promise you won't have any left. For dessert I made a frosty chocolate pie. I made a crushed oreo crust then for the filling I mixed chocolate pudding milk and ice cream together. I topped it with whipped cream before serving and it was ready to go- so easy and tasted just like a Wendy's frosty! I made my first batch of buckeyes and lets just say I'll be trying a different recipe next year :)
Dinner was amazing. Brian and Lori made a prime rib and it was to die for, so good. Even Johanna was enjoying every bite of the yummy meat. Good job Grandma and Grandpa!
In case you couldn't tell one of the gifts Jeff got Johanna was an assortment of princess dresses.
We have both agreed that this little Jasmine outfit is our favorite of them all, she is just so funny in it! Funny story about Johanna opening them up; I wrapped each dress up individually. As she peeled back the wrapping paper of each dress before she even pulled it out she knew exactly which princess it was. A tiny flash of purple fabric "It's a PUNZEL DRESS!!!!" Little flash of teal "its and ARIEL DRESS!" a peak at yellow...."BELLE DRESS!" you get the idea. It was cracking us up!

After our delicious dinner and dessert the kids burned all their energy with some couch jumping acrobatics. Nathan was cracking us up with his no fear stunts. Johanna is the epitome of girly-girl so it was hilarious watching her try to keep up with the boys. Even though her couch cushion jumping wasn't as extreme as Nathan and Tyler she made up for it in her finish. She would land her 'jump' with a giant Ta-da!!! Complete with hands in the air and pointed toes. We all laughed she'd convince any judge to give her a ten for effort haha!

The morning after Christmas Jeff had to go back to work so the kids and I enjoyed some leftover Christmas foldovers.
JJ gobbled his down in seconds. Like literally! I turned around to get my coffee and this is what I came back to.
Maniacal laugh...maniacal laugh...maniacal laugh! haha... Muppets humor ;)
The kids relaxing on their new snuggly blankets checking out a couple of their new Christmas books.
So obviously JJ is a little young for a train but Santa found a sale at toys r us for buy one get one free of the Chuggington wooden train sets and couldn't pass it up. Right now he is more like Godzilla when it comes to playing with his new toy but I know he will love it as he gets older.
I just crack up watching him play with it because he gets this very serious look on his face every time.
It's like he's thinking "Yeah! I'm a big boy, these are big boy toys I better take this very seriously!"
Hee hee :) I just love these little kiddos to death!
Merry Christmas everyone, love to you all! Love, The Overmans
