Lights Parade

Denver has a lights parade every year along the streets of downtown. It works out perfectly for us to park in Jeff's work lot and walk down to the parade route. This year was so warm it barely felt like Christmas!
The downside of super nice weather is that it brings out the people. It was so crowded you could barely walk and unless you got there super early you weren't standing in the front. Luckily we found some giant flower pots that we were able to stand on and see above the ten rows of heads.

My favorite part were the floats. It may not be the Macy's parade but it's still so fun seeing them wobble down the street. The crowd would cheer every time the balloons were dropped to fit under the street lights.
Then the trucks and ambulances came down the street flashing their lights and honking their horns. Johanna didn't like this part of the parade and wasn't sure what to think. I don't blame her, I mean really guys we all know what an ambulance and firetruck sound like so unless your horns are a selection from Irving Berlin's White Christmas you don't need to blast our hearing away.
We were smart enough to leave the strollers behind. JJ got to hang out in the ergo and Johanna spent her time on Daddy's shoulders. While awake JJ had fun watching the marching bands and floats walk by.
After waving to Clara from the Nutcracker and Mary and Joseph from the floating nativity scene we told her Santa was next. She spent the next ten minutes of the parade searching for that red hat and coat.
When we heard the jingle bells and the all familiar "Ho! Ho! Ho!" Johanna giggled with glee. She was so excited to see him ride by! It even snowed for his arrival. Just kidding, I added that part from picmonkey editor because it looked fun to try. Doesn't it look much more festive with snow?

JJ loved snuggling with Mommy for the parade. He was out like a light about half way through.
We limit Johanna's movie watching in the car otherwise she turns into a little parrot back there "Moo-bie! Moo-bie please!" On the way back we figured she'd have some fun winding down with a dvd. We've never used the headphones and were surprised to see that she liked wearing them. I thought she looked so goofy back there with those big old things on her little ears with a big smile on her face from her movie.

21 more days till Christmas :) Nothing gets me in the spirit like a good old fashioned parade, guess I'd better finish my shopping now!
